Company History

Advantage Information Services has been through many changes and much growth over the years. Originally founded in 1909 as the Retail Merchant Association established to give businesses a credit and collection cooperative in Sebastian county. On May 13, 1920 it was incorporated as the Retail Merchant Association.

In the 1940’s the name was changed to Credit Bureau of Fort Smith as the business grew into a full-fledged credit reporting agency. In 1957 and in the early 1970’s other Credit Bureaus were purchased and merged into the Credit Bureau of Fort Smith.

In August 1964 our current location was purchased in downtown Fort Smith as the business continued to grow.

In 1999 the consumer credit reporting portion of the business was sold and the name was again changed to better reflect the current services being provided. Now known as Advantage Information Services we are better able to emphasize our expertise in management consulting, web design, customized IT programming for your business and products designed to help you determine credit worthiness through our business to business credit reports.

True to our rich history, Advantage Recovery System is the division of the company that continues with expertise in collecting delinquent accounts for all types of businesses, specializing in health care, banking and utilities.
